What a wonderful idea!  See-through face masks so that people with hearing impairment can take advantage of lipreading cues.  But just as important is that these masks bring back the smiles that the traditional face masks have been hiding from us!

People who are deaf rely on lipreading and other visual cues in order to communicate.  But how does a deaf person read lips when everyone is required to wear a face mask? An uplifting story about how a deaf employee at Trader Joe's found ways to communicate with customers wearing masks so that he could continue to help.

Hand Sanitizers and Disinfectants

The CDC recommends frequent hand-washing as the best defense against COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.  When hand-washing is not possible, the use of hand sanitizers has been suggested as an alternative, although not as effective, option.  However, many people are not using hand sanitizers properly and are therefore minimizing their effectiveness.

With CDC guidelines encouraging us to use hand sanitizers and surface disinfectants, many of these products are flying off the shelves in the supermarkets.  We found an article that provides instructions on how to make your own disinfecting products, including hand sanitizers and disinfectant wipes, which will come in handy if you can't find them on the shelves in the stores and will likely save you money as well.

CaptionCall has continued to provide nationwide support to hearing-impaired individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Communication with loved ones by telephone has become more important now than ever.
